I have been the owner of Designs for You, LLC for almost 25 years. About five years ago, after my Dad died, I realized Mom seemed to be very forgetful. After a stay in the hospital, she was sent to rehab. It was at that time that she was put through some life skills. I was then advised not to let Mom live alone.

Thus, the journey began. I had to find a senior living facility that was comfortable and the right fit for Mom. It also had to be close to my home, as Mom had, thank goodness, voluntarily given up driving her car.

I then went through the process of deciding which of her furniture she wanted to move and more importantly, what would fit into her studio apartment. I also started to sort out her posssessions to decide what to keep, what to give away and what to sell.

Because it was difficult for Mom to see all her possessions "disappear", I decided to give her something to look forward to. I designed a window treatment for her new home. She was then excited to be part of the process of picking the colors and fabrics for the window treatment, along with a new bedding ensemble.

Along the way, I also started handling all of Mom's financial and insurance needs. My parents were very private, so all I ever knew was that sometimes Mom went to the foot doctor!

After Mom passed away, I started thinking that there were probably other "children" who needed help with their parents. That is how Moving On with Designs for You was born!
